Ode to a Large Tuna in the Market

Pablo Neruda (translated)

finished

A short poem-essay about a fish that somehow feels like a whole ocean.

We read this in class and I was surprised by how respectful the language is toward the tuna. It is not silly. It is serious about beauty in an ordinary place.

What I noticed

The images move from silver to blood to sea without rushing. It reminded me that essays can be built from looking closely, not only from arguing.
